Chimney chase repair in San Antonio

The chase is the steel cover on top of your chimney — it keeps water, animals, and debris out of the flue. When it rusts through, sags, or was fitted poorly, water pours straight down into your chimney, damaging the flue, the framing, and everything below it. Somri Home Services replaces failed chases with properly fitted steel covers that actually shed water instead of funneling it in.

Call 210-296-5076 — we'll inspect your chase and give you a straight answer on repair vs. rebuild

What is a chimney chase?

The chase is the steel piece on top of the chimney that protects it from water, animals, and damage. It sits over the flue opening like a lid — when it's solid and fitted right, nothing gets in. When it rusts through or pulls loose, your chimney is wide open to rain, raccoons, and debris.

Signs Your Chase Is Failing

* The steel top is rusted through or has visible holes

* The chase is sagging or pulling away from the flue

* Water drips into the firebox or down the flue when it rains

* You hear animals moving around inside the chimney

* Rust streaks run down the outside of the chimney below the top

* You can see daylight around the edges where the chase meets the flue

Repair or replace?

Repair works when the chase is structurally sound - a loose fastener, a bent edge, surface rust we can treat and seal, a gap we can re-seal.

Replace is the call when the steel is rusted through, it's sagging, it was never fitted right, or it's a thin builder-grade piece that's already failing. We replace it with a properly fitted steel chase that actually sheds water instead of funneling it into your chimney.`

We'll photograph what we find and give you an honest recommendation - if it can be repaired, we'll say so.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does chimney chase replacement cost in San Antonio?

It depends on the size and material — a basic single-flue steel chase and a custom multi-flue cover are very different jobs. Call 210-296-5076 and we'll give you a straight quote, or start with a $99 inspection if you're not sure what you need.

My chimney leaks when it rains. Is the chase the problem?

Often, yes — a rusted-through or poorly fitted chase is one of the most common leak sources we find. But leaks can also come from the crown or flashing, which is why we inspect all three before recommending anything.

What's the best chase material?

Stainless steel. Thin builder-grade steel rusts through in a few years in our climate; stainless lasts decades.

There's an animal in my chimney. Can you help?

Once the animal is out, we fit a chase that seals the top properly so it doesn't happen again. (Live animal removal itself may need a wildlife specialist first — we'll tell you honestly.)

How long does chase replacement take?

Most chase installs take under an hour.

Do you warranty the work?

Yes — we stand behind every chase we install.
