Cleaning your lint trap after every load is one of the easiest ways to keep your dryer running safely and efficiently. But every so often, it needs a deeper clean to remove residue from dryer sheets and fabric softeners. Here’s how to do both:

Quick Clean (After Every Load):

  1. Remove the lint screen from the dryer (usually located just inside the door).

  2. Pull off the lint with your fingers and toss it in the trash.

  3. Check the slot where the screen goes. If lint is visible inside, use a vacuum hose or a narrow lint brush to clean it out.

Deep Clean (Once a Month):

Over time, dryer sheets and fabric softener can leave a waxy residue on the screen that blocks airflow.

  1. Remove the lint screen.

  2. Soak it in warm, soapy water for 10–15 minutes.

  3. Scrub gently with a soft brush (like a toothbrush) to remove residue.

  4. Rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely before putting it back.

Tip: If water doesn’t flow easily through the screen, that’s a sign it’s coated in residue and needs a wash.

Why It Matters

  • Improves dryer efficiency: Better airflow means faster drying times.

  • Prevents overheating: A clogged lint trap makes your dryer work harder and increases fire risk.

  • Extends appliance life: Less strain on the machine = longer lifespan.
